Day 7 : Being Taylor Momsen

\

"My music takes a new focus now. I have experienced so much since I wrote my last album, and want to fill my music with all of my new experience. I have traveled so much more and have met interesting individuals. I do things differently."

- Taylor Momsen

I really like Taylor Momsen, even if now she had changed her style and her life in general. However, the photos below are from 2011 or something but that was the period of time when I enjoyed her way to be.
In the present, she is not like this anymore, she dressed a little bit strange and almost nobody would follow her style and dress like her. The good things is that she and her band, The Pretty Reckless, are still releasing good songs. As you`d probably guessed I`ve search on the internet some interviews where she describes her life and her style, well let`s have a look :

Taylor Momsen has defined her style pretty well for a girl who will turn just 17 in five days. It's easy to list her likes, her style signatures: underwear as outerwear, tiny dresses, eyeliner, dark lipstick, messy hair, eyeliner, and mascara and more mascara. But she tells MTV Style in new video interviews that describing her style is "the hardest question to answer." She says later, "I think firing my stylist has allowed me to be more free. I was getting molded into this thing that wasn’t who I am." She explains that she dresses for herself — not to be provocative — and looks at dressing her body like dressing her doll collection.

Hmm, she dresses like her doll collection? It`s a little bit weird and I have to say that now she changed her style into something not so great.

Lots of young girls go through a provocative phase, wanting to show off their hot bodies, saying it's something they do for themselves as though walking around in garters, a T-shirt, and no pants is akin to going to the spa. But it's not like going to the spa, especially when you're a young woman who is photographed all the time and will be copied by the youth of America. Taylor's a great-looking girl, she's successfully made herself edgy, but she could still look great and be edgy without performing in her underwear and clear heels filled with money. Just because Beyoncé told 60 Minutes she thinks performing nearly naked is empowering, doesn't mean it is.

Right now, Taylor is showing too much and I think is trying to prove something that doesn`t define her very well ( if you look at the photos below , her old style was pretty good).

The change in appearance, showing an edgier persona with darker makeup, clothes and accessories, may have been shocking to those who don’t really know her, but the shift was in fact a brave step—a step towards letting others see the real Taylor.

So, who is that girl, really? Believe it or not, Taylor is fairly introverted in real life. “In personal situations I’m very, very shy,” she tells me. “As much as you may see a person in an interview or on a carpet, you never really know that person. I’m human: of course I’m insecure.”

Well I don`t know about her shyness because dressing like that and showing some  "I don`t care attitude" you need to have a little courage. However she has an awkward personality and I think there are a few people who really got to know her.

For Taylor, it was all about confidence and finding that right path which would allow her to grow both sides of herself, the outgoing side and the shy side. “I found writing and music. That’s where I am able to be honest and open about everything,” she says. “Find something you love and then go for it. Don’t be afraid to take risks. Go for what you want to achieve in your life and don’t be afraid of what people are going to say about it.”

For Taylor, looking forward is the most important thing to focus on. “No regrets,” she says. “I like where I am right now and I just keep pushing forward.”

Now let`s take a look on her style and there you go some articles that I found interesting :

Taylor Momsen usually leans towards a more rebellious fashion style, one that suits her personality perfectly and enhances her sex appeal. A girl with an incredible sense of fashion despite her age, Taylor manages to capture all the attention. Messy hairstyles with a rebellious pop rock attire are Taylor Momsen's most preferred fashion choices. Skinny jeans, leather jackets, leggings, boots and cute tops gorgeously combined work beautifully and enhance Taylor Momsen's fashion style.

Accessories are very important when it comes to defining and completing a fashion style and it seems that Taylor's unique and complex fashion style doesn't need too many accessories. She already developed a sophisticated fashion style, so she tries to keep her accessories minimal. Scarves, long necklaces and cute bracelets are the accessories most often used by Taylor to complete her outfits.
Feminine, stylish and trendy, Taylor Momsen's fashion style is without any doubt worth copycatting.

Now let`s comment : Taylor Momsen is not like this anymore; if you look over the autumn-winter 2012 photos with Taylor you will observe a huge difference between the old style and the new one. And I have to say it : I don`t really like it. She tries to be someone else but apparently she tries too much. However the old style , in my opinion, is awesome and I think she should come back to it. I hope you like this post and I`ll promise the next time I`ll write something more interesting and more catchy.

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 6 : Overexposed 2012

I have great expectations for the future, because the past was highly overrated.
- Sylvester Stallone

The truth is overrated.
- Paul Westerberg

Today I`ll bring up to you some cool stuff and I hope you`ll read the whole post and you  won`t fall asleep. If you search on the internet you`ll find a lot of things about the previous year and about the things that were so overrated. However I`ve found some cool blogs with a good and healthy opinion about the things that were over exposed in the beautiful and unforgivable 2012.

There is this blogger who wrote "10 Overrated things I`ve waited in line for"

Well let`s take a look at the introduction of the post :

Today is the first day to buy the iPhone 5. Most likely there will be news coverage of the throngs of people camped out in front of Apple stores waiting to get their hands on the new “it” phone. It seems to me that the end of most long lines are anti-climactic at best, which is why I am happy to wait an extra week or two.
It has taken a few years and a few bad experiences to draw this conclusion.
Here are just 10 overrated things I’ve waited in line for: [...]

I have one little thing to comment : I hate Iphone and everything that comes with that. The reason is simple : this little useless gadget is too fuckin` overexposed ! ( sorry for my language but I had to say it )

I`m not going to talk about all of the overrated things on the list so I`ll write some of them, followed by her comment and also mine.

The Biebs

I'm pretty sure this show would have been better with ear plugs.

I`ve just heard the most beautiful comment ever. Now I`m full of joy and I have to thank  this awesome blogger who had the courage to say it.

Twilight

I have spent many hours of my life waiting in line for this movie franchise that I can never get back. At least during the movies I can sleep.

Now I`m falling in love with this one.

The Black Friday

Every year I get up way too early, wait in too many lines and only bring home a handful of half-priced socks.

That`s true story. I`ve bought just one pair of gloves special made for my phone`s touch screen. Just one thing and I`ve waited one week for it.

Now let`s pass to our next article.

Christopher Hitchens once declared that ‘the four most overrated things in life were champagne, lobsters, anal sex, and picnics.’

Well, this argument is quite weird and I don`t get it. I`m ok with the champagne, but with lobsters? Why the f*** do we need lobsters in life? However let`s pass to the next thing.

3D Movies. Are you serious Hoyts? You’re telling me that you want me to pay an extra $6 on top of your already overpriced tickets to watch a movie in 3D, which is going to give me a headache anyway? This needs to stop.

Hmmm.. I don`t know what to say... I mean I go sometimes at the cinema and watch some movies in 3D and I don`t have a headache after the movie so it depends.

Lady Gaga. So she has some outrageous fashion choices and has recorded a handful of good songs. But come on, this doesn’t make her a ubiquitous and omniscient force in the universe like people claim her to be. It just makes her a marketing machine and trust me, there’s a difference.
The thing with the marketing machine is true but she will never stop doing what gives her a tone of money so is useless trying to stop her. Do like me, listen something that you like and simply ignore the artists that you don`t like.

Summer. I hate everything that is associated with Summer because it all sucks. I hate sweat. I hate heat. I hate sand and sun and mosquitos. I hate that whole midriff phase that swept through my town last summer and every single girl thought it was absolutely necessary to wear one EVEN THOUGH THEY REALLY SHOULD HAVE RECONSIDERED THEIR LIFE CHOICES. I put midriffs in the category with jeggings, which is not acceptable, ever.

And that`s the most  preposterous  thing I`ve ever heard in my entire life. I hate the writer already. Why you would say that? I have thousands of reasons to say that summer is a great season. You hate heat, use an air conditioning and that`s it. I`m so angry right now that I read this.

Well with this horrible article above I`ve done with my blog post. I hope you liked reading it and I can`t wait for your comments! Maybe you can tell me some overrated things in your opinion.

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 5 : 2013 Predictions and The Whole Package

When in doubt or danger, run in circles, scream and shout.
- Laurence J. Peter

The work of art is a scream of freedom.
- Christo

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
- Dr. Seuss

Maybe you`d like to see a great list with all kinds of predictions and strange thing about this new year, maybe something that will keep your attention awake.
I have no such list — no to dos or do not dos. No predictions. My only prediction is that your life probably won’t change much. I say set mediocre goals. Do not try to accomplish anything extravagant. You’ll just be disappointed.

Me, on the other hand , I know I`ll be doing this year. I’m going to write more, to take photos, to do what I really want, in different places, about different things. Nothing for me has been more rewarding than having a great time and enjoy every minute of it. I know is hard for all of us but you have to do what you want, don`t think to much, just do it! If you want to tell somebody something, no matter what, do it, this way you won`t regret that you never told him/her.

But I`m not going to start a big discussion about trusting your feeling and so on. Well, happy new year and I hope you`ll have a better year and the last one, which for me wasn`t the best ( ups and downs , as usual).

As usual I`ve made some research about 2013 predictions and nothing strange or amazing. Actually I`ve found some articles with information about things that happened in 2012 ( how they could be predictions for 2013 when they`ve already happened)

By the way, I heard that are some greats movies coming out this year ( like "World War Z" with Brat Pitt , or "Iron Man 3" with Robert Downey Jr.) and I can`t wait to see them on the big screen.
However the Oscars  are approaching and there are some nominations :

1. Anna Karenina, November 16 (Limited, currently expanding)
2. Rust and Bone, November 23 (New York and Los Angeles, expansion pending)
3. Zero Dark Thirty, December 19 (New York and Los Angeles, expansion in January)
4. Amour, December 19 (Limited, should expand later)
5. Les MisĂ©rables, December 25 (Wide)

Don`t ask me what means those things in brackets because I don`t know but I thought  they may be important, I don`t care actually.

In this Blog Post I didn`t write to much, I know, maybe because I didn`t have so much time to prepare but I thought I need to write something so I did.
I hope I`ll write more interesting blog posts and I hope you likes this one too, and one advise for you, don`t try to much to made this year the best, because you might have the big fail in your whole life. Just wait and you`ll see that the positive vibes will come to you.

P.S. : The Pretty Reckless, the band, have just released a new song, called "Kill me". There`s a link to the video on youtube ( link ). Hope you like it as much as I do ^^.

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 4 : Unwrap the Season

“Melancholy were the sounds on a winter's night.”
― Virginia Woolf, Jacob's Room: The Shakespeare Head Press Editon of Virgina Woolf
“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”
― Percy Bysshe Shelley, Ode to the West Wind

“Winter is not a season, it's an occupation.”
― Sinclair Lewis

5 more days until the New Year. Until then let`s talk about yesterday, was X-mas , wasn`t it? I had a great time spending my time with my family ( I`m saying that because I slept almost the whole day). So I`ve search on the internet ( as usual) and I found something interesting about Christmas : 10 Most Amazing Christmas Trees. Sounds interesting, huh? At beginning I thought the article would be boring and I was thinking what could be so interesting about some trees? I have to admit that not all the trees impressed me but there are some which made me curious.

1. World's Largest Floating Christmas Tree (Brazil)

In December 2012, the world's largest floating Christmas tree was lit in Rio de Janeiro during an event that featured lights, music and fireworks. Thousands of people turned out for the lighting of the Christmas tree, which featured a theme of the four seasons. The 542-ton tree is 85 meters (almost 280 feet) tall and was built on 11 enormous platforms in Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.

( Read more at link )

In my opinion the idea with the floating X-mas tree was amazing and I can`t imagine how crowed supposed to be. What can I say, the whole country wanted to see the amazing tree.

2. Chocolate Christmas Tree (France)

A French chocolatier has created a 32-foot-high chocolate Christmas tree in his laboratory in Paris. Patrick Rogers' creation will be used to raise funds for a television charity event to support research into neuromuscular diseases. The tree, which is currently towering inside the chocolatier's factory in Sceaux, weighs four tons and, according to Mr Rogers, is a piece of "architecture."

( Read more at link )

I hungry now! Can you imagine? A big tree made of chocolate? That`s everyone`s dream ( unless you hate chocolate, which would be the saddest thing ever). A like the fact that they raise funds and I hope they`ll raise enough money.
One question I have , how many people they needed to carry this 4 tons chocolate tree? And yes, this is a piece of art, you should really see that photo.

3. World's Largest Murano Glass Christmas Tree (Italy)

Here is an art installation which claims to be the world's biggest blown glass tree. It's in the central Campo Santo Stefano square in Murano (an island of the Venice lagoon). It was made by Simone Cenedese, a Venetian master glass artist. Its total height is 8.5 meters and weighs 3 tons, featuring 1,000 glass tubes.

That`s sounds awesome and maybe they`ve decided to create this kind of tree because they had to much murano glass. I`ve traveled to Venice like two years ago and in every single shop that I entered there were hundreds of boxes full of different objects with different shapes made of murano glass ( for the tourists is a great deal because they can buy souvenirs at low prices).

If you want to see the whole article click on one of the links up.

That would be for today, I hope you`ll not fall asleep while you`re reading my post and I`ll promise the next time I`ll bring to you more interesting things,

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 3 : December Delights

A Rudolph’s nose, left, and a Chilly Pear Tree are two light but festive cocktails that can be served during Christmas brunch.

Sharing the holiday with other people, and feeling that you're giving of yourself, gets you past all the commercialism.
- Caroline Kennedy

A perpetual holiday is a good working definition of hell.

- George Bernard Shaw

Today is  Christmas Eve I am so happy and full of joy! First of all I want to say that I`m so surprised about the things I found over the internet. Since I woke-up I wanted to write an blog post about Christmas and, however, the atmosphere that makes us feel happier.

I prepared for you some subjects that I want to talk about, like unusual drinks , food and traditions ( you know me, I want to bring up the most strange things that are happening in our little world ).

What can I say? The world has the most strange and unusual things as traditions, which I find very interesting ( of course I won`t try every little thing because I can think and realize which is ok to try and which is not). Surprisingly there are  many people who try those things and find them the best ways to celebrate this awesome part of the year.
First of all, let`s start with the Christmas traditions :

Japan

For many Japanese, traditional Christmas dinner is Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is so popular and well marketed that reservations may have to be made to eat at a KFC on Christmas in Japan.

I am wondering if the whole population of  Japanese people is obese. I image a beautiful family making reservations at KFC 4 months before ( this is the most insane thing I`ve ever heard, and now we know the reason why KFC does not go bankrupt )

Surfing Santa, Dec. 8
A bearded man in a Hawaiian shirt surfs onto Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and settles in a hotel lobby to hear children’s wishes.
Although is unusual for us ( you know, freezing weather, cold, a lot of snow, things like that) I think it would be fun to do that, I mean why not take advantage of that great weather ( and now I remembered that is cold outside and how much I have winter ).
Now let`s talk about the drinks ( my favorite part ) :
He advises keeping the drinks light since there's heavy food and sweets in abundance. Champagne cocktails with a touch of cognac, calvados or American brandy can give you the flavor of those wintery spirits at an alcohol content that won't end your day too early. ( like an advise for all of you, and the man who advises us is the owner of The Hawthorne bar in Boston )
One drink he likes is yule tide bulles (French for bubbles), which is one part cognac, one part Benedictine, one part fresh lemon juice, one part grenadine and one part cool filtered water.
This one looks great and I think it tastes the same!

Executive chef jW Foster, who is Canadian, has introduced Inniskillin icewine, a dessert wine made from grapes that have been frozen on the vine, that is made in the Niagara Peninsula winegrowing region. The wine can be served straight or mixed with vodka for an easy martini.
Despite the strange name which I can`t pronounce, it doesn`t sound horrible at all, maybe I`ll try sometime this one .
For more recipes check-out the site ! ( link )
Finally let`s see some special and weird Christmas food :
Porridge With Mushrooms (Czech Republic/ Slovakia)
The Feast of the Seven Fishes -     The meal is typically made up of all kinds of different seafood (not necessarily fish, despite the name) from cod to squid, mussels to eels. The salted form of cod that sometimes appears is particularly associated with the poverty stricken, while the desert is traditionally a very sugary bread, such as panatone.
Hallaca (Venezuela) -      a mixture of meats and raisins wrapped in maize and then in a large, bound leaf. The unusual dish is typically cooked by boiling or steaming, and thought to originate from the time of slaves, when the assorted meat scraps would be handed out to the lowest level people and collected in this way.
However those dishes are strange and I would never try them , because I`ve seen some photos and that doesn`t look great at all. I prefer fast-food ( I know I will become as big as a cow but right now I don`t really care) and I enjoy a big burger than those things.
In the end I hope you enjoyed my post and that you had the patience to read all this , `cause I have to admit it, I wrote a lot. If I won`t post anything tomorrow I want to wish all of you a big, big "Merry Christmas" and I hope you`ll get all the presents you wanted ( and for the ones who doesn`t know , Santa doesn`t exit - yeah I said it)

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 2 : Things to do on a Saturday Night

If you see me on Friday, you'll see different material on Saturday night.
- Kathy Griffin

“When anything can happen, everything matters.”
― Ian McEwan, Saturday

Recently I`ve search over the internet to find out what people think about Saturday night in general. Well the information that I found was a lot worse than I expected to be. From the 101 things to do on Saturday ( some ideas were really creepy ) to advises like : on Saturday nights is easier to robber a bank ( like I`m really going to robber a bank after their opinion). However , tonight I`m gonna tell you what I`m doing, and I hope you won`t get bored and fall asleep after the second word or something.
I`m going to celebrate a friend`s birthday, exciting huh? Well the bonus of all that is that I like to spend time with my friends and that would be all.
Because I think you didn`t fall asleep, I`ll show to you some ideas I found on the internet, while I was searching for something interesting for my post ( I warn you that not everything is normal to do )

1.

Crash a wedding

Ever thought about it but chickened out at the very end? That happens to the best of us but here’s another thing to add to your Saturday night bucket list. Get hold of your best friend and convince him to crash a wedding with you. It’s one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences that you should just not miss.

What is this article? " I`m bored... let`s go and crash a wedding! That must be fun! " Seriously... this is not a good idea, unless you want to spent your whole night in a jail waiting for someone to come and get you out, and trust me, after they hear what you have done they won`t come..

2.

Sleep

The week has probably been exhausting and Saturday is looking pretty good as the one day you can catchup on your sleep. Turn off your alarm. Switch off your cellphone. Cover your windows in blankets. Sleep like you did when you were twelve, and had no responsibilities.

Right! What kind of strange creature wrote that? The title was like : "5 things to do on Saturday night"... I was searching new activities to try because I`m bored and I don`t know what to do, believe me if I wanted to sleep from the first time I would do it without reading your article, which, by the way, sucks.

3.

Build A Fort

Remember when you were little and you would pile your pillows and blankets all around you and camp out in the middle of your bedroom? Well, who says you can’t do that in your dorm room? It could be the perfect private spot to hook up with that special someone.

Yes, why I didn`t think at that? Oh wait, I know, because I`m not retarded or I don`t have mentally issues. However the internet has brought to us some great information about how can we spend your night.

Tip : don`t do this things, there are not the best ways to have fun ; go out with your friends or maybe invite them over to watch some movies or spam the whole facebook ( please don`t do that ). However I hope you`ll have a great time !

P.S : Can`t wait for the Christmas day ! Gifts and co.

hope you have a lovely week!

Day 1 : 'End of the World' Meals, Holiday Tea & More

Deep Fried Snickers Bar

All the time people were curious about when the world end will be? What will happen then? One of the most popular prediction for world end is it will happen in 2012, predicted by Aztecs. There are lots of opinions on this topic but today I’d like to show you some world end related artworks with dark and gloomy mood. They’ll make you worry about tomorrow.
-   5 Extraordinary “End Of The World” Inspired Artworks
Hmm, how can you celebrate this special "End of the world" day? Let`s start with an awsome meal :

British Beef with
Mushrooms & Wholegrain
Mustard Sauce

(something found on a unknown site, and I have no idea how is meal looks like or how it tastes like). However it looks like a fine dinner and where is a fine dinner there is some great wine or whatever : Grand Marnier, Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay (I have to mention that this only bottle of white wine is only 320$, cheap, huh?)
Don`t forget about the dessert, which is to important that you can`t miss, let me show you some strange desserts : Deep Fried Snickers Bar  ( You may have actually heard of this one, but come on, this is weird. I bet it makes a gooey mess - that`s the exact description of the dessert...)

And let`s picture the perfect place while waiting for the world to end : maybe somewhere in New York or if you prefer somewhere not so crowded, maybe in some exotic area where you can admire the view while reading your favorite book and magazine.

Crazy huh? Sadly this is not going to happen because we have a few hours left until we pass to Dec. 22, so I`m sorry to announce you ( especially for those who waited so many year for this apocalypse to happen and those who have built their own cages to be save while we, the poor ones, are trying to survive ) but the world and the population of it is not going to disappear.

But you still can enjoy this awesome meal and atmosphere without waiting for some craps told by some people who became rich thanks to those who believed in this insane warning.

hope you have a lovely week!
